Good Times

We had so much fun last night.
Some of you may recognize Oliver's costume from
past years with Emma. It was perfect to keep him
warm last night. Although it was a beautiful night.
I was very glad for that.
We went out trick or treating with friends and saw quite a few
faces we knew. Of course there are always those houses with
the guy on the front lawn sitting like a statue in a chair waiting for
the right person to come along to scare them out of their wits.
I didn't think they would do it to the little kids, but I thought wrong.
It was a good laugh anyways to see the little boy we were with poke the
"statue" and then the statue moved.
We didn't get the kids into bed until 9:30 or closer to 10pm last night, but Oliver of course was
up at the crack of dawn. Emma is still sleeping. Thankfully.

A few months ago when we were told of Oliver's hearing impairment we were presented with a pretty harsh statement of "His hearing is permanently damaged, it might stay the same or it might get worse. But it will not get better."
It sounded pretty hopeless.
But we adapted to new life with these aides etc.
Last week Oliver had the tubes taken out of his ears and I thought
for some reason he'd be miraculously healed. I Hope like that. Always. Hopeful. Hoping. But nothing changed...until we went for re-testing today.
I don't know why, but now the report is that his right ear is healed. Totally and completely.
Yes. And the left now might improve. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. I am still hopeful.
Happy. Thrilled. Filled up. So thankful.

We are naturally moving forward with things around here.

Today Oliver went and had his ear tubes removed. Now maybe he'll stop picking his ears until they bleed. Shiver.
It was fascinating to watch the whole procedure. They stuck a rod in his ear and plucked out the tube. Easy peasey. The tubes were covered with fingers of wax and blood extending from them. So neat. On our long drive home Oliver was naming landmarks. One of them being where Deb works at the eye doctor place. Pretty amazing that he knows that.

Another progression is the food Oliver is consuming these days.
Yesterday it was Jumbo Pasta shells stuffed with ricotta, Parmesan, and cottage cheese. Normally he won't eat anything that touches. Now he is all over it. Finally. We'll see if it lasts.

I now have someone else to cook for. This brings me great joy.

Emma's school pictures came back amazing.
She is loving school and it makes my heart burst to hear her read.

Grammy Char was here for a short visit, and is now back in Penticton. Sigh.
We have heat and light in our are welcome to come again:)

Having a good day today. I had the chance to see Kirsten's new little tiny baby this morning as we passed at the YMCA with our kids. What an angel he is. Oliver actually looked large for a change.

Well, Steve is home and I can not be on here all day....

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

I am ahead of myself today for a change. Which is nice.
The laundry is humming away in the machine, supper is in the's a good day.

This afternoon I went for the dreaded "physical" at my doc's. It went well though and I was anxious (silly) about what she would say. I don't know why, I guess it
feels like a test or something. No thanks. Anyhow it was great. She said my weight was good and stable and that everything was healthy. Yay! Plus it was nice not to have a pap because I have no cervix anymore. Woo.

Now I am enjoying Emma read me a story. So sweet. Life is smiling on me today.
Oh and I am thankful to have had a full sleep last night because my son let me sleep all the way through:)

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

At the number of times Glen (Steve's Dad) wanders around each day looking for various objects.
Keys, coffee cup, coat, sun glasses etc. This makes me smile.

We are so glad to have what we have.
We went out to Drumheller this weekend to visit with family and made some new friends while there. It was a good time.
Today the sun is shining and warm.

I am cooking my butt off because I have a few more meals to make for Friday.

Also still purging. Seriously...oh my goodness. Does our crap multiply in the night?
Finally I am seeing spaces here and there.
Anyhow, back to work!

Picture Day Yesterday

Trying to teach Emma is almost impossible, so I am hoping for the best. I dressed her up and sent her off and am hoping that the pictures don't come home looking like Chandler's face. (You know...from Friends)

I am really enjoying the moms at Emma's school.

CRAP! Speaking of school, we need to get ready for it.

My kids are great!

Oliver is so fun to have with me during the days.
Today he exclaimed during lunch "Mom, this ham (actually turkey) is yummy. I like it!"
He is doing so well with his diet now and trying new foods. What a job.

Emma said to me last night "Mom, I know everything, but not everybody knows it yet."
Ummm. Right Emma.

Last week I called about getting him into Kindergarten and to let them know he will need a special device called an 'Fm System' to help him out in class. I was not warmly welcomed. The Principal actually suggested that I look elsewhere -like maybe a school designed for special needs kids. Sigh. This is frustrating. He only needs help hearing though. When I tried to argue the point, the Principal cut me off and would not let me say anymore. Grrr. He is normally quite a friendly fellow.

Today I am cleaning out and getting rid of more stuff that we don't need. That always makes me feel good:)

Time to advance the post along...

I am tired of looking at that previous one, so it's time for an update I guess.

So much going on and nothing to blog about.

Oh except I will say this:
The biggest thing for me is that Oliver has been going swimming every Thursday and I weigh him each week because I am obsessive that way. I have such hope every time he steps on the scale that he will miraculously gain. But he is always the same 27 pounds and sometimes he goes down if we've been particularly active outdoors. Today I put him on the scale and automatically slid the thingy up to 27, but that was too low. I tapped it along and it finally set up at 32 pounds!!!!!
It's about time I say. Geez.

In the mail yesterday...

A whole jug of chocolate syrup! Not just a coupon, well I got those too, but a jug of syrup. Yum!
It's the reduced sugar Nesquick and tastes just as good as the original stuff. Mmm chemicals.

First Day

It was a big day for Emma today. Grade one!
All day.
She was fine. A little bit too fine:)
She lined up with the other children this morning and there was no looking back.
I enjoyed chatting again with the other moms who I had befriended last year. It was refreshing to get back into the swing of things. Normalcy.
Oliver and I had a full day of running around so he didn't even notice that Emma was gone for the entire day. He might notice tomorrow when we are home alllll day long.
Once home from school we ate supper straight away. Yes. We. Did!
Then it was homework, making lunch for tomorrow and setting out clothes. All was finished by 5pm.
Then Emma had the energy to vacuum while we tidied up the kitchen and folded laundry. She was so happy to be in school again.
I am happy that summer is over and cooler weather is gently creeping in.

I should go out more often...

I had the chance to go out last night without Steve and the kids.
It was strange, but nice as a change.
When I came home I sure had quite a shock!
Steve had gone grocery shopping with both kids, washed and hung the laundry, did the dishes, and....I don't even remember what else. Wow.

In the mail today...

I am so excited about this one! My dear friend Jodi over at Organized Chaos sent me a book and it arrived today. Can't wait to dive in and read it. Thank you Jodi!

It's been so long that I forgot my log-in info...

Oh well.

I guess it's time for an update because you all are chomping at the bit to hear about my interesting life.

Been busy okay.

Let me see....what can I enlighten you with first? Emma's near death encounter? The weather? Oliver's latest developments?

Okay. Emma and Oliver were tidying up and oh forget it this is going to take too long to write. Have I lost 'it'?

Let me try this then.
Yesterday Oliver got his new "ears". For those of you who don't know, he has moderate hearing loss in both ears. For the past oh I don't know, long while, Oliver has been constantly cranking up the tv and asking "WHAT?" after everything we say or misconstruing our words and asking if we are talking about Batman when in fact we asked him if he wanted a banana.
We had him tested and re-tested and tested some more. Just in case they were wrong, because maybe his hearing was fine. Right? No. For some reason he has lost it.
So now we have aides and he can hear unbelievably well. How could I deny it before? I don't know, but these things are amazing and I am so thankful. I have seen a few pity looks from people, but then they see Oliver jumping down the stairs and they see that nothing is slowing him down. Some people have said that he might get made fun of, but I think if we send him out with confidence then he'll be able to handle whatever is dealt his way. He is so proud of his "new ears" and this morning he came running when I had the kitchen tap on. "Mommy! I can hear the water!"
The biggest pain in my butt from these aides is that only $500 is covered (which actually sounds like a lot) but they cost $5000 and up. Yikes.
And yes, I was curious enough to put one in my own ear. Wow! The sound was amazing!!

I am making sure to make extra time for Emma because she is feeling a little left out from all this attention being put on Oliver. Gosh, they should teach this kind of stuff in sex ed at school, not how to put on a condom. How to divvy up your time equally between kids and how to put in hearing aides and wipes bums and search for lice (not that my kids have it, but I am nervous with Emma in daycamps).

Anyhow....I am off and running for the day.

Friday, August 10, 2007

Finally I am done making jam....

Not sure if I mentioned any plums or not in the last post. And if I did, you can just read it all again. I have had to look, smell and live plums for the past several days. Blech. I am so glad to be done making jam. We "picked" the plums while on vacation in Sicamous last weekend. I am not really sure if we were allowed, well I just happened to have giant buckets (different ones from the ones Emma exploded into) and it kept the kids happy and busy to be picking them so why not?
It actually is delicious and I made syrup too just for something different, but wow did I ever get a lot.

Last night I cut out some dresses for back to school for Emma. I was waiting until her growth spurt was over until I started on them. Also got ahead and made some lunches for Emma and put them in the freezer. That is a weight off for now. Once September hits, things start to go a bit bananas so I like to be over prepared. Well, you all know how obsessive I am.

Does anyone else feel like the summer is all of a sudden going SO FAST!!!??

On Monday Emma starts new day camps and Oliver goes into new swim lessons for two weeks and then it's a small break for a few days and then school. So fast.

Tuesday, August 07, 2007

We're Back

It always feels good to get home doesn't it?

Our trip out to Sicamous was great. I have not seen my family in ages, so that was fun.
Driving with our kids was fun too, especially the part where Emma had the runs in the back seat several times. Thank God I brought a bucket. After several episodes of diarrhea she was finally empty...or so we thought.
"Daddy can you drive a little slower?"
"No Emma we have already stopped too many times. We just want to get there."
"Well... baaaaaaaarf."
This is what makes vacations fun and in later years memorable. "Remember that time.."

We got to visit with Shawn (my brother) who has completely come out of his shell and actually participates in conversations now. It was odd and wonderful to see at the same time.

Mike and Shelley (my other brother and his wife and their kids) were there and they brought their friend Krista and her two daughters. It was fabulous to see the kids playing all together and it made me a little...wishful? is that the word? It would be nice to have all the cousins together to grow up. That would be a real luxury for sure.

We are already making plans for next year and where to have it.

Our trip home was so much faster! We stopped hardly at all. And it just seemed to whip past. The kids were good and there were no episodes. Although Oliver did complete the circle and barfed in the parking lot of the Tim Horton's because he crammed a chocolate Tim Bit into his face so fast. None of us could really tell what was happening to him, then I realized his chocolate hot dog was coming up. Darn it! The best part was the man standing beside us stirring his coffee at the back of his truck. He just giggled to himself. Kids are so great.

It was a good time.

Just Buzzing About

So thankful that it has cooled off for the last few days.

The summer sure gets busy for people. Geez.

I will be glad to get back into a normal routine. We like that around here.

We are going camping "my style" this weekend in a motel. Ahhh yes roughing it.

Monday, July 30, 2007

Nothing like a mustard sandwich to get you going

I don't know where Emma gets it from. She likes the strangest things.

The summer is feeeeeling very long. And hot. And long. And HOT.

Emma seems to have had a growth spurt these days and is looking older all of a sudden.
Oliver melts in the heat just like his mama. Poor fella. Although maybe he would feel better if he did not wear flannel jammies to bed. Funny guy.

Jodi at Organized Chaos is having a contest...

So I am entering.

We are supposed to write about our favourite childhood book. Right. Just one?
Well I did and still do adore the Anne of Green Gables Series. I read those books over and over for as long as I can remember. I would cart them along on summer vacation and occasionally now I will even pick them up again and whip through them and reminisce.

Those books took me back to a simple time. Which, if you know me, you know that I long to be a part of. Hence all the domesticity around here. Anne had heart. Fire. She Inspired. She was someone a girl could relate to with her heartaches, triumphs and sneakiness of course....

If a book can make you laugh and cry then to me, it is worth keeping and rereading. The Anne set still sits on my shelf now and moves with us every time!

Thank you Jodi for such a fun contest!

Check her out!

Watermelon. Can't. Get. Enough.

So yummy.

Just enjoying a slow day of nothingness today. I love it for a change.

Having a party...

We are having a good visit with Grandma Joanne here. (my mom)
I would post pics, but last night during dinner my camera ran out of gas.
So, maybe later if I get the chance.

I could not believe all the messages I got yesterday on the phone and Facebook. I know you had reminders, but still! Wow! Thank you! That really made my day special.

Everywhere I go I hear people talking about the heat

And you think I am crazy for wanting Fall and Winter temps? No. Today it's supposed to be darn hot here. I am so excited for that one. Can you hear my sarcasm? I just hope Emma is okay at Day camp. I would have pulled her out, but it is her last day. Oh well, we'll manage.

Oliver passed his swimming class :) Yesterday was his last day for that. He was pretty excited about it.

That's all I've got. Nothing too much going on here.

I mostly was just tired of looking at my last post all the time.

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

I don't know why, but my posts are not allowing me to enter titles anymore. Fine.

Emma is feeling much better. I knew she had perked up as soon as she started talking a mile a minute. She is back at camps again this week and then has a break for a few weeks until her next two week camp.

I am starting to get organized for Christmas. Go ahead and roll your eyes at me.
This is how we don't get slammed at Christmas with having to use our credit cards.
I know I am not the only one thinking of Christmas right now...

Well, I am off to enjoy my day.

Saturday, July 07, 2007

I realize it's been a while since I last posted...sorry about that.
Been a little busy around here.

Swimming lessons for Oliver are going way better than I thought they would. He is getting braver every time he is in the pool.
Emma's camps are a blast except...she was a little burned out by the end of the week and perhaps has Sun Stroke/Heat Exhaustion or whatever you want to call it. She was burning up by the end of the day yesterday and feeling like crap. I have brought her fever down now and she is starting to perk up, but is still pretty weak. Poor girl.
With that in mind...her and I are home today while Steve and Oliver are out enjoying the Rodeo with my free tickets. I did tell Emma that we would take in a Stampede Breakfast so we would not totally miss out on all the festivities this week though. She was super excited about that. Doesn't take much to get this girl excited.

I am excited about the new rules at our library. They have extended the number of dvd's you are allowed to take out at one time. So nice to be able to take out more than three now. Yup, it doesn't take much to get me excited either.

Enjoying the day....

Even though this week is dang hot it is cool in the house.
This is the best house for heat management yet.

Emma had her first exhaustive day of camps yesterday and boy was she emotional, but she loved it. One of the little girls in her group was there last year and they made instant friends. I can see Emma's independence developing and her social skills have also grown this year a lot. Last year she was so shy at the day camps, but this year she is very confident and loving it up.

Oliver has the same instructor as last time and the instructor even remembered Oliver.
This guy is great with the kids and sooooo patient. Oliver had so much fun in his swim class.
I will try to remember my camera today so I can sneak pics of both kids.

We had a great dinner out last night with Miranda and family. I love how excited Isabelle gets when you talk to her. She is so adorable.

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

Today in the mail...two vouchers for free individual pizza and pop at Boston Pizza!
Oh My Goodness!

And here starts the busyness of summer...

Today Emma starts her summer camps. She is SO excited. Me too actually. This girl is already asking to go back to school.
Oliver starts his swim lesson today.
We visit with Grandpa Dave this afternoon.
Miranda and family are visiting for dinner.
It's dang hot outside.
I got NO SLEEP last night. Oliver was wandering the house. What the heck is that all about?

Miranda came down yesterday with Travis and the kids. We headed out to a few different places around the city but ended up at the spray park trying to beat the heat. Where is winter?

Been Organizing Again

I can't help myself...I love to rearrange and organize.
Get rid of things.
Get rid of things.
Just. Can't. Stand. Clutter.

Enjoying some down time...

With Emma out of school now, days are great. I don't have to interrupt whatever we are doing mid-day to take her to kindergarten. We have been playing and relaxing and doing nothing really. The next few weeks are going to be busy so I figured I'd let the kids just hang out and have down time for now.

My mom comes in the middle of July, that should be fun. We have not seen her for ages.
She is planning on making me a birthday cake and is bringing party hats. Oh boy.
She is also bringing some recipes for me to borrow for my repertoire. Yay!

We ate lettuce from our garden tonight with our dinner. So delicious.
Nothing like freshly grown food.

Last Day of School

I can hardly believe it's the last day of school for Emma.
She is not at all phased by it. She has no idea how l-o-n-g summer will
feel when she is waiting for her new class to start. I do have her enrolled
in a few day camps though so that should help pass the time...

I will certainly miss chatting with the moms everyday.

Steve (my hero) put up my second white board in the kitchen yesterday
while I was getting groceries. I love it. Now I have menus for the next four weeks on there
instead of my tiny little calendar plus I can write out what book the recipe came from etc.
There is also enough room to do a menu for Emma's camps next that a bit too obsessive?
No, I didn't think so.

Sunday, June 24, 2007

I guess I didn't know how tall Emma was getting until I saw this picture and noticed that she was gaining height on me. I am sure she'll pass me soon. She is only five now, so with any luck, she'll pass me. We had a good trip out to Drumheller and the kids had so much fun with Grammy and Grandpa hunting for dinosaur bones.

Thursday, June 21, 2007

Yup, it's been a while

Okay so I have had my break and now I am here. You may not be, but I am.

What has been happening?

uh....Lots, but I can hardly remember what I ate for dinner last night so I am not even going to dig up what's been going on for the last two months.

Today is Emma's Sports Day at school. The year is almost finished for her and then we are on to day camps for the summer.

I have made some good friends with the moms at the school oh! and, we are able to stay at the same school she is already at even though we have moved and are out of bounds now. So we are good there until Grade 3. Sigh of relief.

I have started cooking for a gal who I am friends with and she pays me! This is a dream!
What more could I ask for? I get to cook and get paid! Hallelujah!!!!!

Oliver's eye has improved enough now that he doesn't have to wear the eye patch anymore. Woo hoo!

My veggie garden is actually growing, much to everyone's surprise.
Can't wait to taste it.

So this post wasn't the most exciting one to come back with, but that's all I've got.
I am not going to be posting every day. Well, I say that but who knows. If I have time I will.
Enjoy the weekend folks.

Picked up my prize finally

I won three CD's. And they are actually not bad so far. Don't ask me the names, I am terrible with that. Can barely remember my own name most days :)

Busy these days.
The end of the school year is near. (Already?) Wow that went fast! The weather is beautiful and I don't want to be sitting on my behind all day. Well, not that I do...

Hope you are all enjoying the little bit of sun we have finally been given!

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

You are not going to believe it....

I am sitting here shocked. A few minutes ago I was passing by the radio and overheard them say
"Callers 8 & 9 will win..."
I grabbed my phone and dialed in. Busy. Dialed again. Ringing. Waited waited waited.
I almost hung up because it was just ringing, but something made me hang on the line.
Then, all of a sudden two cheerful voices said hello!
Caller number 9!
Haha! I won !
Not really sure what, but I can go pick it up later today.
I am so excited. This never gets old.

This weekend we went to Aggie Days and saw all sorts of fun stuff. Pigs, Goats, Chickens, Cows, Horses, and on the list goes. We saw environmental conservation efforts along with entertainment and I entered a contest just for fun because I naturally do that.

Yesterday I got a call saying that I WON tickets to the rodeo at the Calgary Stampede!!!!!!

Oh My gosh!

That is going to be fun.

I can't wait. I won!!!!!!!!!!!

Longest Day....

I left for the doctor at noon and just got home a little while ago. With both kids tagging along. Lovely day it was. The wait at the doctor's office was almost enough to make one go around the bend. One my way home after my check up I received a message saying that my new glasses were ready. I decided to chance pushing the kids and took them to one more stop before heading home. They were soooo good and quiet on the way to the optical place. I didn't hear a peep. In fact I thought for sure they had fallen asleep. I opened the van door after parking and found brightly coloured faces! Ha ha ha. It was hard to cover my laughter, the kids thought they'd created great masterpieces on their faces. "We are tigers mom!" "Roar!" They even had wiskers and everything. Too bad it was in pink pen ink, not washable. I had to take them in with me like that to get my glasses. The girls had a good laugh. Oh well. What can you do.

I lost four more pounds. Yippee! I forget now what my goal was...but anyhow it's a fine number that I have hit and I am happy with it.

Thankfully Steve made supper for us when we arrived home. What a sanity saver. Sigh. Now it's baths for everyone....can't wait for bed.

My dentist sang to me today...

It was lovely. He was delightful, we laughed and he took great care of my nerves.
I opted for no freezing because I was afraid of getting a jumpy nerve again so we just took things a little bit at a time and before I knew it, it was over. It helped with the laughter and singing. Who knew it could be such a joy to go there? I certainly didn't.

I saw a deer this morning just off my front step. So beautiful. We really have nothing to complain about living here.
I may change my mind if they eat my garden, but still they need food too right?

Unpacked the last box

Now there is just a pile of bits on a shelf that I don't feel like finding a place for. Window scraper, shoelace, paper clip. That's it. We're unpacked. Now to put things a bit more orderly and we'll be great.

Going to the dentist today:)
It should be my last visit.

My vacuum is on it's last legs. Maybe I love it too much.

Emma is now snuffly and coughing a bit. She'll be fine. Oliver is still a whiner, but that is his nature after all. He's not coughing anymore so that's good.

It's nice to finally get rid of all those boxes, they sure do clutter up the place. Now...if only I can get rid of more stuff!

Friday, April 13, 2007

Just so you know...

Oven cleaner works wonders on blackened pots.
Not that I ever burn stuff ;)

Feeling better...

But he is milking it for all it's worth. He wants me to keep cleaning his nose for him. Ewww.
And, he is sneezing all over the place.
Me? I am spraying Lysol after every sneeze and scrubbing the place down. A little over the top-maybe.

I cut my hair last night. Nothing dramatic, just a clean up. I notice it. Also gave myself a lovely new colour. Well, a freshen up of colour. I actually had blonde chunks growing in at the back and at my roots. Scary. Now it's nice and dark.

It's supposed to be warm out might be a mean trick that the weather people are playing on us, but the sun is already shining down out there so maybe we'll go and enjoy it.

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

Slowing down today...

I knew someone would crash after we moved, but I was expecting it to be Steve or myself, not Oliver. He is barky and his nose is gross. Ug! Oh well, life goes on.
Emma had her first day back to school (as I mentioned) yesterday and she came home SO emotional. I almost asked her if she was on her period, but didn't want to start a whole new bunch of questions and emotions. Geez!
She does not do well with a break from routine AT ALL.
The birds sound like they are yelling outside today. Squawk squawk! So upset at this snow and confused at why there is no warmth yet.
I love the carpet in this house. It is a treat to vacuum. I am not being sarcastic.
It really is great.

I can put my mind at rest now

Every box has been unpacked. That is not how I found those blasted ink pads though. I had tucked them away somewhere, a very good place. They fit just so in a special little pretty decorative box I had and thank goodness I didn't throw it out without checking first. The box felt a little heavy and I opened it up and there, inside were my ink pads. At last. I knew I had not thrown them out, but I had settled on the fact that I just might have.

We had a good little Easter here and all is settling in. Today was Emma's first day back at school. We'll see how it went-in fact I better be off now to pick her up.

Sunday, April 08, 2007

Can't find them...

I am going a bit batty over here. (not that I wasn't already but...)
I have lost my inks for stamping. Surely they have not been thrown in the garbage. Or have they?
Every box has been searched and I have not found them. So where are they?

Move out Inspection 10:30am-Yikes!

It's 9:30am now and I am NOT stressed...okay maybe a tad. We scoured that place yesterday from top to bottom, with the irritating, nagging knowledge in the back of our heads that deconstruction will begin in the units soon- so cleaning is useless.
It's okay the time I spent there was very nice. I was alone. It was quiet. We are so thankful for what we have. We are thankful to be out earlier than we anticipated. I am thankful that I didn't get blindsided by this rental company and all of a sudden had to find a place. We are so blessed to have a home-especially in this money hungry city that is leaving so many people living in their cars and on the streets.
We literally filled the dumpster out front of our old place with our belongings. Have I mentioned that yet? We had purged a lot up to that point, but the last few days we really got rid of stuff. As we saw the new place fill up, we knew there would be no room for it. Anybody want my wine glasses? I have not thrown them out yet.
The fridge is huge here. All the burners (that I can see) work on the stove. The toilet doesn't run all night, the neighbors don't pound and blare their music alllll day and NIGHT, the other neighbors don't have a crack house, the other neighbors don't have "Sully's World of Bugs and Other Creepy Crawly's in their house", etc etc etc. This house has it's quirks and quarks like for example it doesn't have a giant dumpster. How inconvenient;)
Anyhow....time has sneaked away on me here and now it's 10am and almost time to go. So I will check in when things are all said and done.

*Update: Had the inspection and all went well. Of course it did. Who was I kidding? We busted our butts. The Resident Manager walked in and said "Oh my, I can tell this is going to be an easy one."
Honestly-how do people leave their houses? Gross! We chatted and walked around the house and it only took four minutes. Money will be back to us in 10 days...and counting.

High volume coffee

You never notice how loud the coffeemaker is until your kitchen is right close to the bedrooms and you are trying to tiptoe around. Oh well. Oliver awoke at dawn too yesterday but at least he napped. We were hustling and bustling all around him hauling the freezer out to the van (I am She-ra!)and Oliver just laid on the floor and fell asleep. Poor fellow. So tired from all the excitement the last few days. He slept for a while and normally doesn't transfer, but when I put him in the van to come home, he went right back to sleep. Amazing.
Our entire complex was given the boot yesterday as they are selling them individually now for big money. A lot of people have no place to go and it's really sad. I almost felt guilty that I already had a place. Weird. I am soooo thankful though. After the notices were given, people were coming out thinking they had mail and then upon reading them, they stayed and chatted with each other. It was the strangest thing. People normally stick to themselves over there, but yesterday afternoon they were talking about how long they had lived there and about where they all came from. It was something to see.
On a lighter note, the kids are the best helpers ever! Emma makes the beds so well and I am taking full advantage of that. Plus, they carry in all the odds and bits of things that are a waste for us just to make one trip for. Yesterday I had Oliver push a craft cart with wheels up the driveway. Once at the top there are stairs and he couldn't lift it, so I asked him to just wait for me. My hands were full carrying a big load of stuff so he just flopped his body over the craft cart ready to wait for me. Well, the driveway is on a slope, and the cart took off flying with Oliver on top. It was so funny and all happened so fast all I could do was laugh and watch as he crashed it into a snowpile.
Today we head over to clean and lift out more stuff. Now we are down to the big bulky parts. Dressers, washer, dryer etc.

Leslie: If you can help me clean at any time maybe Sunday or Monday we should have it all cleared out by then. I will last that long! Thank you for your offer, it gave me a renewed energy. And of course you can come to our new place! I found more stuff for you too. Hurry up or it's going in the dumpster....

Mom, my skin hurts

"Yes dear I know. It's called dryness."
Oliver is suffering from the difference in air from this house to the last. Once we hang enough laundry he'll be okay;)
I've hung two loads already and they dried in a flash.

This week so far in the mail I have received $8 in dog food coupons, 2 free tubs of dairy free sour cream, 2 free tins of Green Giant veggies, I forget what else, been a little preoccupied.

Have a good day all.

We are making progress in our new place. Lots is unpacked already. Lots more to bring over yet. I am in no rush though. We'll get there. Today we did nothing but unpack and PLAY!! The kids and I had races on pillows inchworming our way along the carpet. I am sure the neighbors must have thought we were crazy, but it was fun.
We walked over to our local grocery store this evening and oh my goodness the deals!
My subtotal came to $31.75 then with coupons I had $17.98. this is not counting sales discounts. I was a little unsure if the lady was going to give me that big of a coupon discount because she pulled out her calculator and started doing some math. I thought maybe I was over the allowable coupon usage or something. It all turned out fine and I am just paranoid about my coupons.
The kids have been playing with plastic cookie cutters and a packet of coloured pens. It's great. No tv is what I love. Everyone gets along so much better and the kids are so much more imaginative.
The first night we stayed here Steve and I were in the front room and we saw the family of four deer that live in our neighborhood. They just calmly walked right in front of our window and sauntered down the street. So majestic. Beautiful. It slows you right down to see that daily.
Kirsten, if you are ever needing to get out of the house and need somewhere to go, you know where we live....

Bye bye Grammy and Papa!

Posted by Picasa

Having a quick bite after packing for the day with Grammy and Papa and Auntie Cathy.
Yes that's me looking oh so fine and scraggly in the lovely pink sweater. Whatever.
I am guessing Grammy and Papa are on their way out now. Steve helped get the truck ready yesterday and they are heading to their beautiful new home. Us...we are headed for more moving still. Boxes today and tomorrow. I can't wait! Woo hoo!

Can't wait for Sunday Buffet!!

Every Sunday after church Steve's grandparents go for buffet (well they actually order form the menu and we have buffet). Lately we have been joining them and having so much fun. Grandma always has something good to say like: "How many kids do you have now?"
Uh Grandma...what do you think we are? She is awesome. I am so excited. Oh yes and the food. I do hate the fact that it's buffet, but I am getting over that pretty fast because it's yummy and I can eat four plates of watermelon. Mmmm.
I'll tell you all about that tomorrow.

Yesterday we went up to the zoo. That really drains the gas tank. It's far! We saw areas that we had not seen before. Honestly where have we been? Sheep, mountain goats and a porcupine that you could climb into his surround with. One man was having a bird over that thinking one lady would get shot with quills.

I realise I am an old lady. Pretty shoes are for wearing only in short intervals. To church and home and that's it. Not for walking around the entire mall. How on earth did I ever use to walk and walk and walk in such excruciating shoes? Steve could not figure out why I was walking slower and slower and s . l . o . w . e. r. the other day while at the mall. I am fine with this by the way. I am not saying I am wearing orthopedic shoes by any means, but no more feet pinchers with treacherous heels.

I find it odd or interesting that we tend to go into hibernation in the winter, but now that spring is on it's way (it is!) we are doing more, more awake.
Does anyone else find this? to get ready for Buffet. Maybe I'll take pics of Grandma this week and show you how cute she is-as if you don't already know.

Thank you Jodi

I was delighted to find an award for myself over at Jodi's

So now I need to nominate five more bloggers who I view as worthy...
Well I do not like making some people feel lesser, but I do certainly enjoy the following:

She has everything figured out and five kids to boot. How does she do it? I will never know! I am wowed by her every day.

A love of life, family , friends and everything in between.

Another lady I am wowed by. She has overcome so much, has the busiest life I have ever seen and still keeps plowing through.

I will also choose Miranda she has a private blog so.... I will say that I love her openness and strong sense of self. She is a powerful woman and I value her as a friend.

I am done. I know I didn't nominate the entire five, but I am leaving it open ended.
I don't like leaving people out.

Photographed by Oliver-yes our family really is that white

Posted by Picasa

Thank heavens it is Friday. It feels like I have not seen my kids all week. That's weird because we have not sent them anywhere...well Emma has gone to school, and we have done a million errands. I guess we just have not sat still very long that's all.

Tonight we'll enjoy some good ol' family time. Can't wait.

Emma has a project due in class today that she has to stand up and present to them. Can you imagine? In Kindergarten? Wow. I don't recall doing that. It should be fun. I am going to see if I can stay and either peek through the window, or come in and watch...

As for the dentist, I know you are all as tired of hearing about it as I am of going. He had to temporarily fill it because the nerves got all worked up and everything hurt. Then, the filling came out and had to be re-done (yesterday). Next time should be the full meal deal filling. Then it should be the end. I hope.

So far this week I have received in the mail (free): 6 pairs of underwear for Steve and 6 for Oliver, Voucher for free carton of Silk soy milk and several coupons for $1 off, free box of instant breakfast plus free sample (that Oliver loved), $7.00 off Dial soap...and I forget what else because I probably used it already.

Miranda...I decided not to post any pics. Maybe I will bring them in May and we can reminisce over them then.

Is it bedtime yet?

I have only just picked Emma up from school and it feels so late. Probably because we had so much running around today. Dentist was lovely. He even complimented me on my head scarf. I needed no freezing-I think I am getting braver. Or crazy. I still have to go back though in two weeks! Ha ha. Then they will finally finish filling the tooth. They did not want to aggravate it anymore today, just give it another temp coating for now.
We have a project to work on for Emma's school tomorrow right now. There's always something to do :) That's okay...I don't like to sit and do nothing anyways. I think you all know that. As for the cable tv at the dentist, I could not even tell you what was on. I blocked everything out.

No Joke

I am going back to the dentist.
Can you hear my excitement?
Oh yes. Cable tv!

Good Job Emma!

Emma brought home a bag of Pitas yesterday. Woo hoo! So tonight we'll have them for supper. Yum. I asked her if the other kids got them (or if she swiped them) and the other kids got some too. Phew!
Oliver is lethargic this morning. Oh well, maybe it'll keep Emma from picking on him. I doubt it.
Still packing. Had to unpack my food processor yesterday. It always goes that way doesn't it? The moment you pack something is the minute you need it.

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

Lucky Emma

She has a baker coming to her class today. Yum! They are doing a unit on food so this fits in there. Droooool.

I can not wait for my dental appointment next week. This is ridiculous. I am giving up and asking for them to pull the tooth finally. Still can not chew on that side-it feels like I am eating tin foil.

I am thinking seriously of leaving everything in boxes or throwing it all out when we move to the new place. This unclutteredness is lovely!

Monday, March 19, 2007

Yup, another coupon...

This one is for $10 of free coffee from Hill Brothers. Mmmm. Oh happy day.

"Hey Mom, What does this spell?"

Emma shouts across the room holding up a piece of paper every five seconds. She forgets I can't see that far. Thinks I have bionic sight. I praise the patience of the grade one teachers who have to sit through all the sounding out of the letters and words of every child in her class. Oh the agony. I can not even imagine her nerves at the end of the day. I hold my tongue from saying the words for Emma, but so want to rush them through. I wait and let her do it though. I would not want to sit through 30 kids. My own are plenty. Thank you very much.

The weather is drizzly out today. Weird. Very unlike here, more like Vancouver weather.
Not much longer until we are in the new place. Woo hoo! Oh heavenly day.

Oh and if anyone needs a good cleansing...watermelon does the trick quite well. Mmm.

Wandering In the Night

I do know better than to drink caffeine before bed. I Forgot this rule and drank it anyways because we were having so much fun at the mall playing on the toy structures and walking around. Oh well. I was only up until midnight or so...which may not be late for most, but it is very late for my old lady body.

I did manage to finish a dress for Emma while I was stirring in the night.
It turned out far better than I imagined. Phew. She loved it when she came down this morning. I am always a little apprehensive that she might get fashion-poisoned at school by her classmates. We are still in Kindergarten yet, so I may be safe for a while...I hope.

Oliver is begging begging begging me if he can go for a visit to see Travis and Auntie Miranda and Isabelle and Zoe. He has no concept of time, and doesn't understand that we are going there for a holiday in May, not today.

Finally it's Friday. Thank Goodness.

The Cashiers Are Going To Hate Me At My Next Shopping Trip

Today I received $5.00 for Hunts products and a FREE voucher for a box of Swiffer Wet Jet Pads. Can't wait to go shopping. I love seeing the cashier's face when I hand over the stack of coupons - however they usually treat me differently then.

Yesterday was a blur. Packing, chucking, cleaning, dealing with a cry baby and going to the dentist again. This is my favourite part of the whole moving thing, because the house looks sooo uncluttered. We have packed and gotten rid of a load of toys and various other things we do not need, so we can see the floor and the tops of cabinets now. Clean! I love it!

The dentist was a treat. I told him not to put any more needles in my face. He chuckled. Shaved off more of my teeth and adjusted my bite. Then sent me on my way and wants me to come back in a few weeks. Gosh! Oh well. It gets me out of the house, and they have cable tv, so it's nice-sort of. I am trying to look at the positives here.

Steve vacuumed and did the dishes yesterday. Well, and a few other things. Yay Steve!
With him doing that, it freed me up to get working on a dress for Emma. Got halfway done and then the kids were just too wrangy and had to be put to bed.

I was chatting with a lady at the school yesterday after dropping Emma off and she is moving to Medicine Hat. Why? Because she is getting double what she paid for her house here and houses there are cheap like dirt. Holy crap! Why stay? I think we may see a lot of that now.
Newfoundland is looking pretty desirable after all. I see why Miranda and Travis would consider it. (other than the fact that he is from there ;)

Anyways...I am off with my thoughts for the day...

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

I saw briefly on the news last night about the recycling program being scrapped here. Gasp! Yes we have no curbside pickup. Then this morning while looking up the story again to get more info I saw something about a plastic recycling place at the old Barracks. That's all it said. It did not actually say where. I guess I could go drive around for a while looking for it over there, but if anyone knows for sure where it is, that would be very helpful.

First Trip...

We made our first trip over to the new place and took some of our backyard stuff. Our yard here looks so much nicer now. A lot less trashy. Why do toys have to make the place look so...gross? Anyways, we took over some stuff and it feels like things are happening.

The price you pay...

Now that Oliver is actually eating normal food, he scrounges and eats all the food from my plate after finishing his own. I can not really complain because #1 it prevents me from overeating #2 he is eating!

Today in the mail: $12 in Resers voucher/coupons. Yum! I can't wait to use those. Maybe I'll get something spicy so nobody will steal it....

As Emma explains the story:

"No Oliver, Mary was riding with King Kong on the donkey to Bethlehem..."

Thursday, March 08, 2007

I know you must be getting annoyed by now, but...

You will not believe what I found in my mailbox today.
I walked Emma to school today to enjoy the weather and get away from packing for a bit. When Oliver and I got home, there was a big package stuffed into our box plus we had letters too.
What was in the package? Well, I got a lovely letter from Royale toilet paper and a $3.00 coupon for toilet paper. The package contained TWO 3packs of panties for Emma! Oh my gosh! Can you imagine? Yes I am quite gleeful this afternoon. That is a big deal.
Anyways...I am off to do more packing.

Sometimes you just have to laugh

The snow is melting at a furious rate here and the sun is shining. Ahhh so beautiful.
Haha. When I was bringing Oliver home after dropping Emma at school today I saw a perfectly dressed lady-high heals, fancy outfit, perfectly done hair, impeccable make-up etc. She was walking and talking on her cell phone at the same time.
She thought she was all that. Just as she reached the edge of the sidewalk, she hit a patch of ice and her feet went shooting up into the air, over top of her head.
I stopped and stared. I thought she broke her neck, but then I realised that she was still carrying on her conversation on the phone.
I saved her embarrassment by burying my head in the van and pretending not to notice.
Her purse was strewn about. Her clothes were all in disarray, hair mishmashed. Oh gosh.
She picked herself up and said something to the other person about the slippery sidewalks. I'll say.

Younguns these days...

As I was driving home from my latest adventure at the dental office (I'll blog about that in a sec) I heard someone honking while I was stopped for a red light. I thought maybe it was a friend or something, but no. It was a car jammed FULL of teens and they were harassing an older lady in the car in front of me. Sick. The light quickly turned and they sped away.
Poor lady. What is going on with the next generation?

Emma has learned the art of sarcasm. Yes! I am so proud.
We were driving home (still from the dentist) and Oliver asked if we bought our van.
Emma pipes up "No Oliver, we stole it."
Thatta girl.

My dental visit was great today. They gave me several needles....remember Oliver wanting me to get more? Well, I sure did. They took out the filling I got last week and did something else. Also, checked me for candidacy for a splint. I guess I clench my teeth. Can't imagine why. I have to go back for another check in next week. Can't wait. Don't know if my heart can take it. It races so fast. Geez!

Anyways.......I am off to drink water for supper. My face is frozen all the way to my eyeballs. Weird because I could still feel the pricking of his instruments. How is that possible. Jodi, I know you are one of the sensitive ones too-back me up.

What else would I blog about? Coupons!

Yes, indeed I received yet another coupon in the mail today. It's another good one. $5 for the Palmolive company. Nice. When I went yesterday to get some chips, the guy at the checkout asked me where I got such great coupons. I told him that I wrote to places. He just stared at me in disbelief and then asled "Really? They actually send you coupons? I thought that was just a farce."

Monday, March 05, 2007

Yup, another free thing in my mailbox this afternoon. This is a good one. I think I may just have to go out RIGHT NOW and get them. What did I get? Two vouchers for free Old Dutch chips. Oh yes. Drool.

If you would like to write them, I have their postal address. Email me and I will give it to you.

Some Movie

We took Emma out to see Charlotte's Web last night. I have been reading her the book. It was cute, but last night they didn't start the movie until 6:45pm and my heavens the theatre was filled with crying babies! My girl was crying after
the movie because she was so tired and very emotional, but not during. What a distraction! That is why they offer Stars and Strollers! Anyways....There were good moments: Emma leaned over and said "Mom I remember this part! I really do, I really do!"
Emma sat between us and held my hand for a bit. So sweet. When they introduced Charlotte, Em said "Oh there she is! There is Charlotte"
She was pretty thrilled.
When we got home she told us that she was worried about Oliver spending the night at Grammy's. I tried not to laugh while asking her why.
She then said she missed him. I told her that means she is a good sister.

Friday, March 02, 2007

Okay I will admit it. I tricked Oliver tonight.
Let me explain....
Oliver: "Do I like that mom?"
Me: "Yes you like it and you have had it lots of times before."
Oliver: "Oh I do like it! Look I'm eating it mom!"

This conversation was in reference to the tater tots we ate. No he had never had them before, but I was trying to think positively...

It worked. His tots are gone. And his hot dog is mostly gone.

Emma: "No Oliver Blue and yellow make green."
Oliver: "really?"
Emma: "Yes"
Oliver: "Oh"
Emma "And Purple and white make eight."

Funny Boy

As I was putting Oliver to bed last night, he looked up at me and said "Let's go to the dentist again tomorrow so you can get another needle in your face again. That was great!"
No thanks buddy. I have had enough for now.

He came with me to the dentist yesterday and stayed in the waiting area watching the fish. It was a fast visit, so there was no trouble and he had lots to occupy his time.

Today....I think it might be feeling better. Knock wood.

Thursday, March 01, 2007

Thank you Crayola!

$12 free coupons today from Crayola. When I was showing the vouchers to Emma I asked her what I had in my hand. She said "That one is $6 and that one is $3."
I said "yes, but do you know what it is?"
"Yup, it's money. Money for pain."
Um okay Emma.
I am guessing she has either misheard us and thinks pain is paying or she is quoting song lyrics. Either way she is awesome.

Thank you Jodi !

Jodi made my new banner. She has such talent. I love barns-actually took this photo myself and sent it to her and she performed magic with it. Sometimes it even feels like we live in a barn, so that is very fitting :)
Thank you Jodi!

Progress and regression

I am going back to the dentist today for the tooth I had work done on last week. That sucks.

On a happier more positive note. Oliver went to orthoptics in the Children's Hospital yesterday to get measured from all the patching we've been doing. It has been working. Even the times when we can only get him to wear the eye patch for ten minutes, I guess it counts too! His eyes have improved! Funny how they thought surgery was the only way...

Oh yes...and I found the perfect frames for my eye glasses. I have been searching everywhere. Finally found them at the children's hospital of all places. It will take a few weeks before I get them. Oh my gosh. They are something.

Unclogged it at last

That was great exercise. My butt actually feels a little sore from all the plunger shoving.

Oliver is eating his crusts!

My Mother In Law brought me dark chocolate M & M's! Heavenly!!!!
They are near impossible to find here in Canada.

Off to do....stuff.

Put your back into it

This has become a fun game for me now. I am still trying to unclog the gem in our upstairs toilet. I have been splashed numerous times and the motions I am making while plunging are fierce! If I could reach that log, I would break it up, but it's just out of sight, but enough there that it still clogs.

Oliver is singing and playing with magnets.

My grandmother called. She never calls. It was so sweet. We chatted for about ten minutes. She is so cute.

Anyways...back at it.

I can never think of titles, so move on to the post already

This morning I was greeted by a lovely treat in the toilet again. From Emma. She leaves it there so I will know that she went. So great. I honestly wanted to take a photo I don't know how she had that in her little body. For goodness sakes! No wonder her clothes fit funny! Anyways...I am still trying to flush it, just taking a break as my hands are actually getting blisters from the plunger.
Emma is at school all day today. That is weird. She is on a field trip. So much fun.

Had a fabulous phone call from Alison. It's fun to have girly chats every now and again.

Got a free $5 voucher for Ziploc product. Yes!

Oliver is being a sucky baby again, but we'll shall persevere. I don't think I have ever listened to a whine quite like this.
I am finding my happy place. It doesn't involve chips either. Although that would be nice....if you are in my neighborhood and have chips and want to share:)

Oh yes, Oliver ate meatballs on Sunday night! First time. I nearly died from the shock.

Monday, February 26, 2007

What did we do this weekend?

Ummm I can barely recall.
I do remember seeing a movie last night with a few friends. Music and Lyrics. Cute, but I am glad I used a cereal coupon. I could not get to sleep after either. Tossed and turned all night. It was worth it though I guess for a few minutes to chat with some of the ladies. Maybe next time we could go during the day :) I am such an old lady.

Steve got our taxes done. I was shocked when he sat down and started doing them and I had not even suggested (nagged) him. Hopefully that is it now. Knock wood.

We saw Grammy. She is back from her excursion abroad. Had a nice visit.

Oh yes, and we booked Emma's summer swim camps! Full days. Four weeks. Cheap. Same place as last year. Oh ya.

Friday, February 23, 2007

Free for me

I got a voucher for a free bag of Robin Hood Flour today because I entered some kind of contest waaaay back. If I referred you-then I hope you get one too :) Seriously my life is so entertaining.
Oh ya...and I forgot Oliver at Emma's school today. I didn't get very far though. One of the other moms ran after me and handed Oliver to me. Ha ha ha.
He is just so quiet!
Plus I was rather distracted as usual....

Scrambled Eggs, Pork Roast ...What next?

Oliver has eaten scrambled eggs this week and tonight for supper he ate sundried tomato flavoured pork roast. He is coming along in leaps and bounds. It has taken us a l-o-n-g time to get to this point and it's no easy task to get him to eat, but when he does we rejoice. This is a grateful day.

I'm alive

They did not use enough freezing, but I survived. The Dentist at one point took my heart beat. Maybe he could hear it. I could see it, if that makes any sense, which I am sure it doesn't to you NORMAL folks. Anyhow I won't bore you will all the details.
Off to do my normal work outs and chores. Cheers.

If you have a cat...

Go here
Canada only

I'm off to the dentist

Can't wait. Truly it should be fun. Trying not to think about it.
Got your package today Mom, thanks!
Something smells like it is burning. Seriously burning. Can't find the source.
Emma is being a spaz today. Does anyone else have spazzy kids? Or is it just me. Nevermind.
I am going to the dentist. Very soon. Oh my goodness.

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Oh ya baby

Free sample.

Can't wait for this one!

Another Free sample.

I have turned into the old coupon lady down the street

Another Coupon....Here
*only in Canada
I do have another one for ladies only though in the US if you want a free sample.

At least I am sharing now.
I got up this morning to an awesome surprise in the toilet from Emma. Yum! This time she managed to clean herself properly though thank goodness.
Have a good day everyone.

For a treat click here

I believe it's only in Canada though.

I thought this day was going by slowly...but now it's okay

I went out straight away this morning to grocery shop. With both kids. Normally I avoid going with BOTH kids at all costs, but I figured I had all the time in the world because Emma is off school today so why not?
I had the kids searching for items so that kept them occupied while we shopped, plus they were fed and toileted before we left.
I went to the IGA (Sobeys) by my house. They accept Co-op coupons and M & M Meats coupons. I went armed with these and several other coupons. Plus it is dollar days at IGA. Oh my goodness. I only spent $50 and saved over $75 with coupons and sales combined. Plus we can not forget the free cookies they give to kids and the kids get to choose the kind they want. Thrilling.

Now the kids are playing quietly. Shhh don't disturb them.

*Emma's random question for the day was "Mom may I have a cheese wiz with banana sandwich?"

Uh gross. Thankfully we didn't have any cheese wiz because she was dead set on having it.

Has anyone else noticed how early the sun rises now?

Well, if you go to Steve's blog you can see that the kid's and him made a great fort out front over the weekend. Now every time the neighbors walk by I can hear them exclaim "Hey Look at that!"
I managed to get lots of packing done this weekend, and I'm almost finished Emma's spring jammies. She has just had a growth spurt. Do these kids ever stop growing?

is for my US friends.

The kids have been getting up earlier now with the sun shining in their windows so early. The seasons are changing again.

Friday, February 16, 2007

Me: "Emma are you going to the bathroom?"
Emma: "Pea is a vegetable mom."
Me: "Could you just go to the bathroom please."
Emma: "They are green and round you know."

I was laughing, she was crying

Just as I was getting the kids ready for bed last night, the phone rang. I answered it and sent them upstairs to wait.
It was my Dad calling and we chatted for a bit, making arrangements for him to come for a visit on Saturday. I could hear Emma calling me from upstairs, but I figured that Steve was up there and he could help her with whatever her dire need was so I kept talking to my Dad on the phone. Finally after about the 17th "MOM!!!" I realised Steve was ignoring her and I got off the phone. I came up the stairs to find her on the toilet. Oliver was nowhere to be found. He was not in his bed like he was supposed to be, not hiding in his closet, not in her room anywhere-then I found him. He was on our bed with daddy watching Ellen.

Emma had POOP all up her arm and jammies because she had tried to wipe her own bum and somehow missed-or got creative.

I couldn't help but laugh. Emma cried, then laughed. I cleaned her up and told her she did a good job trying! Wow did she ever try.

This is why I normally turn the phone off at night. Too much mayhem.

Beep beep beep!

Where are all those beeps coming from? The timer for the stove, the bread and the washer....and I think there might be something else in there.

Garlic butter buns (homemade) tonight with dinner. You know, the kind you need to forget that you ate because they have so many calories. It's okay though because I am running my legs off my body today with a thousand other things.

I am also making regular bread because I refuse to pay $4 a loaf for it. Gosh! I don't know how bread companies charge so much. And my special spinach bread with chocolate. Yum. Yes it sounds shockingly gross, but you eat zuchini bread right? Well that's what this is, only with spinach instead. You'd never know the difference.

Bread bread bread. Mmmm. Must go hang my laundry.

New Blogger....

I switched. Lost my template. Great. That's okay. I think it was time for a new one anyways. I was getting tired of the old. I fiddle around. This may take a while.

*Update:I am currently working on my links. If I have left you out, please know that it is not intentional. I lost all my links when switching so I am digging everyone up from the history here. This may take longer than I thought.

Free Orange Juice in the mail today. Mmmmm.

Oh my!

Steve cleaned his closet all on his own. I did not even ask him. Two trash bags worth came out. One went to the donation bin and the other lot I cut into squares for blankets and made pants for Oliver.
I am amazed he got rid of stuff. I think the purging bug has bitten him. I love it.

Some of you may laugh and scoff....

My brother for one, laughs at me for wearing a sweater around the house, and hanging my laundry to dry. But he won't be laughing when I announce that yesterday we were able to pay a whopping $1000 onto our debt from all the money we have pinched back.
Feels good. Oh yes. So good. It's finally paying off, all the time spent getting free stuff so that we pay less for our grocery bill and not eating out EVERY day. We may just get this paid off faster than we thought. Woo hoo!

Brace yourselves....

Steve actually got rid of stuff last night while we were sorting and packing. Unbelievable.

Bits and pieces

The kids were watching "Over The Hedge" this morning and at the end while the credits roll I guess the characters come out and dance or burp or joke around while the words go by.
I usually am walking around and miss all the action and Emma has been trying to get me to watch this silly bear dancing (because I am too lazy to rewind it) for a few times now. So I was typing away and Emma shouts at me "OKAY MOM hurry up or you're going to miss it."
I was lost in my own little world of typing for a second and then I clued in that she wanted me to see the bear that she had asked me to see a few days ago.
Man these kids have memories like elephants.

Oliver awoke the entire house this morning to happy little shouts of "Hello? Anybody there? Where are you guys? Hello? HELLLLLO????" Knocking on all our bedroom doors and walls until we all got up, because if he's up then everyone must be up too.
Such a happy little fellow today, which is the opposite of yesterday. I am glad he's getting back to normal. He was out of sorts and now has perked up that's all.

I got a new bra yesterday. Which is monumentous. An investment really. If you've been reading my blog for long, then you will already know that. I hated to part with the money yesterday, but I needed one badly as I have dropped sizes around. Woo hoo!

I can not wait until April 17th. I get to meet someone in person for the first time from the blog world.

Need more boxes-or need to get rid of more stuff

I keep getting rid of things, but the more I pull out of hiding, the more I realise we have. We are getting rid of our wooden CD wall cases because we never even put them up here and we know we won't be putting them up in the new place. I tried getting rid of someones books and they nearly had a meltdown. So that won't be happening today.
Maybe my Aqua CD though...ha ha yes I do have that. Shudder.

On another note, we made a trip out to the library yesterday and came out with a huge lot of books, music, DVDs and books on CD. Emma has been spelling words like crazy lately so I figured it would be good to get her off my trashy novels and onto something more age appropriate ;)
The irritating thing is that these books we took out (similar to the Dick and Jane that we all grew up on) are below her comprehension level. She is bored with them. She doesn't care if Jane catches a ball or fall in the hall.
Sorry, just one of my vents for the day.
Even Oliver thinks they are a yawn.

Miranda: check out for eggbeaters coupons. I can never remember if you like those ones or the other egg things in a carton. Kind of like New Norway. Anyways...they are there and I thought of you.

Oliver got a haircut last night......

Why you ask? Gum. Gum in his hair. I have no clue where he got the gum from but it was all over his neck and hair and and and and we should have taken pictures, but there really was not time for that. Oh the mess. Steve tried peanut butter, but I could not handle the screaming from Oliver. So off came Oliver's hair. He actually looks cute. Emma was so supportive. "Hey Buddy, that's a nice haircut you got there." She kept saying and patting him on the back.
Maybe I will get a new picture of him today with his new hair.

Can of worms-great for the comments ;)

I used to roll my eyes at stay at home mothers when they would stand up for themselves, because I never understood how hard it was. I thought it was their job to slave away and wash dishes all day. Please do not mistake this as a complaint-I am choosing this lifestyle.
Normally I stay away from topics such as these on here because they stir up so much descent. However-I do believe something needs to be addressed.
I was not just going to ignore that comment from Dave however innocent it may have been. Sorry Dave if you had to be the attacked. However, I have seen many women muddle through, thrown to the wayside because they are suddenly staying at home with their children. These women are actually educated with degrees, but people assume that they have no education or part to play in society because they are mindless mothers.
I was only trying to stick it to all the ignorant jerks who disregard mothers.

In the Mail today-Can you see how big they are??????

Posted by Picasa

What a night

We have not had a night like that one in a long time. Oliver was up a thousand times. We ran out of Tylenol. Crappy deal. Poor thing. I think Oliver has an ear infection, but there was nothing I could do about it in the middle of the night.
Besides...they don't prescribe antibiotics after age two anyways.
He is still sleeping now which is quite rare. I will head out later on and find some stuff for him. I am feeling some contempt for the doctors in our fine city right now so am avoiding them for some reason.

On another note. Emma scared the crap out of me this morning. She snuck up behind me and just hovered. The only reason I knew she was there was by her nose whistle.

Oh...Alison just chimed into MSN so will go chat for a moment.

Have a good day.

Emma cracks me up....

Today I was going through Emma's clothes and stuff. I came across some panties she got for Christmas that were too big (size 8 girls) and they don't fit her yet. She told me that I could wear them until she fits into them. Ummm.

More Randomness

Things seem to be getting back to normal...sort of.
No more bleeding today. I will keep watch for now. I guess that is all I can do. And yes Margie it is glorious not having to spend money on all those supplies each month. Uck!

Anyhow.....Packing is going along spledidly. This is when my OCD is a nice thing to have ;)

My "new" washer is heavenly. Sigh. I wanted to sleep with it last night...ok that's a bit gross, but it is so great. Have I mentioned the size of it's -oh nevermind.

Speaking of gross, the kids are hacking and coughing and sneezing all over the place. I am armed though with my Lysol. But it doesn't make the kids stop. Arg. They are taking over the house! Ahhhhh!

Gosh three posts in one day!

My father in law just left. Generously he brought me his extra washing machine. Thank the good Lord above! And Glen too. Now I don't have to keep running up and down the stairs to push the cycle along. Not that I minded the exercise...but it was rather inconvenient. Woo hoo!

Gotta love the health system....

I mean, not that I am complaining or anything.... I'm just saying.

I called my "Lady" doc to see when I could get in to see her as I am having more bleeding. Which I should not be having anymore because frig, I had a hysterectomy!
The earliest I can get in to see her is in six months...well I could be dead by then or not.

Gee life is good.

Catching up

Sorry, I know how frustrating it is to come to a page day after day when nobody updates. Gee!
Nothing much going on here. The kids are still have coughs but are overall fine.
We saw Happy Feet for free this weekend which was a nice treat.
I am just now catching up on blogs....haven't been on all weekend.

Emma is down....

Warm, coughing etc. Not going to school today or yesterday. That's okay.
We are just hanging out and getting better. Had a great visit with my grandmother yesterday. She came in all the way from a small town in B.C.
We chatted and chatted and chatted.
So wonderful to just stop and sit for a while.

"Hey Mom, come look what I spelled on the fridge...."

"That spells Fart right mom?"

"Yes Emma"
I don't know if I should be proud or not....

Sunday, January 21, 2007

When Oliver saw Emma the morning of her birthday he told her she looked like a flower. He was perfectly happy for her when she was opening gifts and did not throw a fit as some children do (Emma).
We went to visit Steve's grandparents yesterday. Cute. The kids were a bit squirrelly, but over all they did okay. Grandma kept asking how Christmas was-if you all remember she was there with us at Christmas time. She loved the visit though-so did grandpa. I just hope we didn't tire them out.
We are just hanging out now.....I love having family time.

Happy Birthday Emma

My big Birthday girl! Wow how on earth did five years pass so quickly? I am sure I will be wondering that in amazement when she is 30. Emma has been looking through her baby book this morning. She was not quite sure why I was in a hospital bed on her birthday. "Oh Mommy! Were you sick on my birthday when I was first born? How come you were in a bed laying down?"
"Well Emma. I just finished having you come out of my tummy and they had to vacuum you out so that made me kinda tired you know."
"Oh okay mom"

Why do I bother?

I help Emma with her assignments (she has standing ones every Tuesday and Thursday) and the teacher doesn't even check it! What a waste of my time.
Happy Birthday Jenn!

Please....just work a little bit longer

My washer this morning decided to gush water all over the floor. Why is that? Things always die when you can least manage it. I finessed it a bit and things are working for now. Hopefully the washer lives until we move. Then we can use the ones that came with our new place...I believe.
Anyways. Cross your fingers. I knew we needed a new machine, but I am not about to buy one today-or tomorrow for that matter.

Okay so I really couldn't stay away for that long...

I am currently eating Baked Lays for my mid morning snack (second breakfast). Only a handful though-not the whole bag. Emma is sick today. Fever. Sluggish. Cough. We stayed home from church and Steve and Oliver went early. Emma has already had a little nap. So droopy, poor thing.
Kids are very resilient though. I am sure she'll be back to normal soon.
I refuse to acknowledge the soreness in the back of my throat. Grr.

Since all is quiet in the house this morning I am going to finish off a patchwork blanket and start a new dress for Emma. We'll see how far I get on the dress.

Anyhow...I better get on it if I want to finish before the boys get home.

*Update: Blanket-done. Not making dress anymore...skirt instead, and it's half done. Lunch is cooking now.....sigh. What an exciting post.

Phew...I need a drink

Any kind will do. I am currently cleaning and purging the contents of the basement. What fun. Our lease is up in May here, so I better get on it. You may not see me blogging for a while.....sorry about that.

Better than Beans and Weiners.....

Miranda, me, Kirsten, Desiree and a few other ladies have come together to blog recipes. Sounds boring, but really it adds variety to our menu.
You can read the recipe blog at
How exciting! Okay so if you are not into that kind of thing then don't read it, but we are thrilled. You should have seen Miranda and I chatting yesterday. Anyways.
The things we get excited about, boy oh boy.

Homework for Kindergarten? What is that????????

Emma came home with a duo-tang of homework yesterday. Great. I mean I am actually thrilled because I needed more stuff to do. Can you hear my sarcasm? Good.
I do love spending time with my kids. Yes yes I do. The crap thing is that I looked through these assignments and it's stuff that we've already covered here at home. Emma is bored and beyond that now. Anyways....moving on.

Yesterday was so much fun! I went on a Freecycle trip. For all of you who don't know what that is, google it and I am sure there is one in your area. I got two DOZEN one litre canning jars. A steal. plus somewhere else a lady was cleaning out her sewing room. I got two boxes of fabric. Good stuff too. Even some trims in there and aida cloth and DMC threads. I can not believe she was just getting rid of it. Emma was so excited when she got home from school and saw the fabric. She started listing off all the stuff we could make with it. Plus there was loads in there to use for the blankets I am making too.

"Hey Emma I have fluff in my toes, wanna see it?" Oliver just asked.

Getting back to "normal"

School starts back up again today. Emma is WILD. Not really sure why. I could scrape her off the ceiling. She is so happy to see her little friends at school again. The other night she was sobbing because she missed school so much.
I am glad she loves it. She said yesterday "My favourite part of school is not the holiday part mom."
Her birthday is coming up. My goodness. Where does the time go?
Yesterday Steve and I were talking in the kitchen and came in to the living room and found Emma on the computer trying to chat on MSN with Miranda. Funny little monkey.

This and that....

The movie was great. I liked it. This isn't a movie review so if you want to see it go for yourself and not because I said I liked it. Although it is pretty cute. I think the greatest part was getting out as a whole family to the theatre and not spending a fortune-that's what the thrill was to me. I could freely enjoy it.

We were out doing a return yesterday and stopped in at a washroom and Oliver saw a an older lady wearing a peach coloured track suit. He surely noticed-outloud.
"Mom, mom,MOM! That lady is not allowed to wear her jammies!"
(I am still laughing out loud and Emma is asking me what I'm laughing at)
He repeated it over and over as I tried to hurry out of the bathroom, but I was laughing so hard. I am sure the other ladies all had a good chuckle.

Going to a movie preview today

I got free tickets from the radio station for the whole family to see Arthur and the Invisibles.
Can't wait. Should be fun.

Happy Birthday to my older brother Mike today!

Digging out....

I know I did laundry over the holidays, but I guess I didn't do enough to keep up. Now I am paying for it. Yesterday I had seven baskets full waiting to be folded and I had to fold two and put them away so I could refill them again. Today I have more more more. I secretly think it mates like bunnies in the laundry bins. Honestly we do not have a lot of clothes so what the heck?

In other news....we are having yummy supper. Jamaican pork roast (usually made with ribs but we only had roast) Can't wait.

I am very tired.

I had a few oopsy daisy moments today.

Like spilling hot wax all over the kitchen counter. Sadly I have done this before, so I knew exactly the tool to clean it up.

I tried to put dirty dishes in the fridge and leftover soup in the cupboard.
(Yesterday I put lipton dry soup mix in the freezer after a shopping trip)

Must go to bed early tonight, I am so disfunctional.

On a good note I have almost finished the menu planning for the next two months. Phew. Call me a nerd, but it keeps my sanity. Can you imagine how much worse I would be? I would find Oliver in the dishwasher and Emma in the washing machine if things kept on in my misfired brain.

Anyways.....I think my bread is burning I better go check.

Have a wonderful day. Love ya. Hope you like all my underlined words. Something is weird in blogger and I can not turn off the fact I never turned it on. Ha ha. Have a good birthday! Spoil yourself!
