A few months ago when we were told of Oliver's hearing impairment we were presented with a pretty harsh statement of "His hearing is permanently damaged, it might stay the same or it might get worse. But it will not get better."
It sounded pretty hopeless.
But we adapted to new life with these aides etc.
Last week Oliver had the tubes taken out of his ears and I thought
for some reason he'd be miraculously healed. I Hope like that. Always. Hopeful. Hoping. But nothing changed...until we went for re-testing today.
I don't know why, but now the report is that his right ear is healed. Totally and completely.
Yes. And the left now might improve. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. I am still hopeful.
Happy. Thrilled. Filled up. So thankful.

We are naturally moving forward with things around here.

Today Oliver went and had his ear tubes removed. Now maybe he'll stop picking his ears until they bleed. Shiver.
It was fascinating to watch the whole procedure. They stuck a rod in his ear and plucked out the tube. Easy peasey. The tubes were covered with fingers of wax and blood extending from them. So neat. On our long drive home Oliver was naming landmarks. One of them being where Deb works at the eye doctor place. Pretty amazing that he knows that.

Another progression is the food Oliver is consuming these days.
Yesterday it was Jumbo Pasta shells stuffed with ricotta, Parmesan, and cottage cheese. Normally he won't eat anything that touches. Now he is all over it. Finally. We'll see if it lasts.

I now have someone else to cook for. This brings me great joy.

Emma's school pictures came back amazing.
She is loving school and it makes my heart burst to hear her read.

Grammy Char was here for a short visit, and is now back in Penticton. Sigh.
We have heat and light in our house...you are welcome to come again:)

Having a good day today. I had the chance to see Kirsten's new little tiny baby this morning as we passed at the YMCA with our kids. What an angel he is. Oliver actually looked large for a change.

Well, Steve is home and I can not be on here all day....

I am ahead of myself today for a change. Which is nice.
The laundry is humming away in the machine, supper is in the oven....it's a good day.

This afternoon I went for the dreaded "physical" at my doc's. It went well though and I was anxious (silly) about what she would say. I don't know why, I guess it
feels like a test or something. No thanks. Anyhow it was great. She said my weight was good and stable and that everything was healthy. Yay! Plus it was nice not to have a pap because I have no cervix anymore. Woo.

Now I am enjoying Emma read me a story. So sweet. Life is smiling on me today.
Oh and I am thankful to have had a full sleep last night because my son let me sleep all the way through:)

At the number of times Glen (Steve's Dad) wanders around each day looking for various objects.
Keys, coffee cup, coat, sun glasses etc. This makes me smile.

We are so glad to have what we have.
We went out to Drumheller this weekend to visit with family and made some new friends while there. It was a good time.
Today the sun is shining and warm.

I am cooking my butt off because I have a few more meals to make for Friday.

Also still purging. Seriously...oh my goodness. Does our crap multiply in the night?
Finally I am seeing spaces here and there.
Anyhow, back to work!

Picture Day Yesterday

Trying to teach Emma is almost impossible, so I am hoping for the best. I dressed her up and sent her off and am hoping that the pictures don't come home looking like Chandler's face. (You know...from Friends)

I am really enjoying the moms at Emma's school.

CRAP! Speaking of school, we need to get ready for it.

My kids are great!

Oliver is so fun to have with me during the days.
Today he exclaimed during lunch "Mom, this ham (actually turkey) is yummy. I like it!"
He is doing so well with his diet now and trying new foods. What a job.

Emma said to me last night "Mom, I know everything, but not everybody knows it yet."
Ummm. Right Emma.

Last week I called about getting him into Kindergarten and to let them know he will need a special device called an 'Fm System' to help him out in class. I was not warmly welcomed. The Principal actually suggested that I look elsewhere -like maybe a school designed for special needs kids. Sigh. This is frustrating. He only needs help hearing though. When I tried to argue the point, the Principal cut me off and would not let me say anymore. Grrr. He is normally quite a friendly fellow.

Today I am cleaning out and getting rid of more stuff that we don't need. That always makes me feel good:)
